Heisman Watch 2011
By Anthony Carillo
1) Andrew Luck-Quarterback Stanford
You have to put last year’s runner up as the front runner for the Heisman trophy this year. The consensus best quarterback in college is ready to lead Stanford once again. Yes he lost his head coach, and yes he has lost some of his starting offensive linemen, but Andrew Luck is the ultimate leader. He will have a very strong season, as well as face a lot of stiff competition in the newly revamped Pac-12.
2) LaMichael James-Running Back Oregon
The nations’ best running back returns for another season, in an offense where he has shown he can put up Heisman type numbers. With a large amount of the offense returning this year, James as well as everyone else at Oregon is looking for this explosive tailback to have another fantastic year.
3) Landry Jones-Quarterback Oklahoma
Landry Jones was thrown into the fire two years ago when Sam Bradford got hurt, and the Oklahoma offense never skipped a beat. Jones had a fantastic season last year, and Oklahoma returns a lot of the weapons around him. Look for Landry Jones to really kick it up a few notches as he will attempt to lead Oklahoma to a national title.
Other Noteables-QB Kellen Moore, RB Trent Richardson, RB Marcus Lattimore, WR Justin Blackmon, QB Case Keenum, QB Denard Robinson
